Wow, I can honestly say that I have no qualms about any of these picks. Nice assessment.
The UPL Baseball awards (both midseason and postseason) are always amongst my favorite posts of the year. It's always fun to see what you'll come up with here. (Have you done the All-UPL Team Killers before? A nice touch...)
No, the All-UPL Team Killers are new. It just seemed that we had a few more of those guys than usual, so that would be fun. I like seeing how things change at the end of the season, especially with guys that I trade for/away.
Yeah, you should definitely do a 'best' and 'worst' trade at the end of the year.
Well, right now, I've got BJ Ryan for Matt Garza as the worst trade, since I totally botched that one :-) I think that I deserve an assist for your award, Westy.
Joe Saunders for Mike Cameron could be the most meaningless trade.
Best trade? To be determined.
I'd like to add the Orlando Hudson for James Loney trade to the "Meaningless" department.
Although it worked out much better than last year's trade where I gave up Pujols for Konerko and Myers. that was an AWFUL trade...
There's no way that trade happens this year, from a keeper or a common sense perspective.
Well, Hudson was a rental, for sure. But that's what I was trading for, really.
And in fairness, Paulie was just awful last year, and has actually been pretty good this year. And Albert was coming off of those arm injury rumors, which is what really prompted the the trade. Obviously, Albert seems healthy now, so you'd be nuts to move him.
What's amazing is that I have about 1/4 of the UPL team killers on my team and I'm still in 2nd place. Must mean I drafted well and have played the waiver wire to my advantage.
Ok, I lied, it's only about 1/6th, but still :)
C-Lauff. In my culture, we have a term for getting 21 HR from Aaron Hill as a free agent, and getting 25HR and 17SB from Mark Reynolds in the 18th round. It's not a perfect translation, but it's something akin to "having a rabbit's foot up one's ass."
Roland,
Jealousy will get you nowhere :)
